Object Feature: The Joan Jett Olympic Special

Eliza Samuelson Dec 6, 2022 2 Minute Read

As TFI launches the GXRLCRUSH Benefit Raffle, we’re going to be doing a series of Object Features highlighting the feminist contributions we are raffling off while sharing with our readers the history and meaning behind them.

To kick this off, we’ll be talking about Joan Jett. Joan, the acclaimed guitarist best known for her role in Joan Jett and the Black Hearts, has a legendary guitar. Donned in stickers and worn thin from years of rocking out, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member has used this piece since her time in The Runaways.

Joan Jett has broken the glass ceiling for female and queer musicians and is undoubtedly one of the most impactful artists of her time. Now, we are auctioning off Epiphone’s take on the classic instrument for our Raffle. The Joan Jett Olympic Special is based on Joan’s longtime favorite stage guitar - it is a lightweight, stage-ready powerhouse with all of the essentials you need to rock, with no frills to get in your way.
