Women’s Strike for Equality

The Women’s Strike for Equality was a nationwide protest held on August 26, 1970, commemorating the 50th anniversary of the 19th Amendment, which granted women the right to vote. Organized by the National Organization for Women (NOW) and spearheaded by Betty Friedan, it became the largest women’s rights rally in U.S. history.
