This scan features Wilhemina Jones, Future Star, written by Dindga McCannon. The novel follows a young Black girl growing up in Harlem in the mid-1960s who dreams of becoming an artist. Drawing from her own life at age fifteen or sixteen, McCannon crafted the story as an autobiographical reflection on adolescence, ambition, and creative awakening.

In addition to her visual art practice, McCannon maintained a deep love of writing, and this work reflects her commitment to storytelling as another artistic medium.
